Entering the City of Light (Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah)

Visiting Madinah is a journey of the heart. It is the city that gave refuge to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and where his blessed body rests. As you approach this sanctuary, renew your intention (Niyyah) solely for the love of Allah and His Messenger.

1. The Etiquette (Adab) of Madinah

Imam Malik (RA) would not ride a mount in Madinah out of respect for the soil that the Prophet (PBUH) walked upon. While we may use cars today, our hearts should carry that same reverence.

  • Lower Your Voice: Allah says in the Quran, "Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet" (49:2). Maintain a state of calm and quietness.
  • Walk with Humility: Avoid pushing or rushing, especially in the Rawdah.
  • Sincere Salams: When standing before the Golden Gate, present your greetings with utmost respect, knowing he returns the greeting.

2. The "Walking Sunnah": Quba to Nabawi

There is a beautiful new walking path connecting Masjid Quba to Masjid An-Nabawi (approx 3km).

  • The Reward: The Prophet (PBUH) said: "Whoever purifies himself in his house then comes to the mosque of Quba and prays there... will have the reward of an Umrah."
  • The Experience: Walking this historic route at Fajr time allows you to trace the footsteps of the Ansar welcoming the Prophet.

3. Historical Gems Often Missed

While many visit Uhud, few visit:

  • The Wells of the Prophet: Several wells (like Bir Uthman) still exist today and are finding renewed attention.
  • The Seerah Museum: Located right next to Masjid An-Nabawi, this world-class museum uses technology to show you the Prophet's life in 3D. A must-visit for families.

4. The Power of Durood Shareef (Salawat)

Allah Himself sends blessings upon the Prophet, as do His angels (Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:56). Reciting Durood Shareef is a divine command and a key to acceptance of prayers.

"Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah will send blessings upon him tenfold." — Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Make it a habit to recite "Allahumma Salla Ala Sayyidina Muhammad" constantly during your journey. The journey from Makkah to Madinah (approx. 4-5 hours) is the perfect time to complete thousands of Salawat.
